ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY IN UGANDA (IUIU) IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ISLAMIC THOUGHT (IIIT)

    2ND INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITIES CONFERENCE (TARBIYYAH – 2016 CONFERENCE) AUGUST 3RD – 6TH, 2016

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in partnership with the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) is accepting papers for its two - day International Islamic Universities Conference scheduled from August 3rd – 6th, 2016 at the IUIU Female’s Campus - Kabojja, Kampala. The conference theme is “Holistic Youth Personality Development in Higher Education”.

Nations and civilizations are built on holistic individuals who promote and defend their religions and beliefs and are equally responsible to successfully develop their people as a whole and youth in particular. On the contrary, youth personality development has seldom been given an academic-religious thought. The world is experiencing a general outcry regarding youth behavior in relation to society. Of recent, there has been an awakening among Muslim scholars to the realities of youth personality development challenges, both nationally and institutionally. This awakening is important for all stakeholders to galvanize efforts geared towards bridging the generational socio-cultural relation and communication gap. The trend among scholars, since 1995 and religious persons in Africa have been to encourage communities to foster youth personality development in their daily activities. Since Islam is a holistic system that fully impacts an individual’s life, Muslim scholars, community leaders and Imaams ought to equally embrace the notion of holistic youth personality development and how it is fostered and nurtured. Monotheism propels the universal holistic personality development agenda while shaping the socio-cultural relations of mankind and youth in particular.

This TARBIYYAH 2016 conference shall focus on ingraining youth personality development as a culture among Muslims in the Higher Education Institutions. It aims to stimulate, document, and promote academic-religious discourse on youth personality development through dialogue, capacity building, and developing strategies that will engage the Muslim communities in Africa to assume their original responsibility of fostering and nurturing youth personality development. The conference will offer a platform for Muslim academics and the community to present papers; promote youth personality development activists, and chart a course of action on regional issues affecting the Muslim youth personality development.

Within the broad theme of the conference, topics for papers include the following:
