Abstract
Political threat in Nigerian Arabic poetry: Reading from selected poems
If political poems are a poem to control the politics in different levels: internal, local or Islamic points of view and other aspects, our Nigerian literary could never be fenced out in using their art capacity to control and adjust Nigerian citizens. Nigeria is one among the African countries whose citizens face the challenge of oppressions from their leaders in the third-world states as a result of bad political and economic status. This condition is a source of inspiration for the poets. This paper is an explanation to show the struggles of part of Nigerian poets, those who sharpen their swords before the corruptible leaders, those who do not care about their followers except with threat based on their political interest and satanic ideas over shadow them. But our poets stood against these barbaric acts with their poems since the political status has derailed around late 70’s in the 20th century A.D. The writer chose the analytical method to treat this topic and he was able to reach our results which include that political threat is not today’s baby but ever since. The poem of professor Issa Alabi, titled "The cheated people on earth" was written quite long as two and half decades.
