ABSTRACT
This paper focuses on Frederick Winslow Taylor scientific management theory with regards to staff performance in First bank of Nigeria Plc, the Bayelsa State experience. Staff performance and commitment are important ingredients for any organization to achieve its goals and by extension sustain competiveness. The method adopted in this research work was qualitative approach and on content analysis. The population comprises First bank staff in Bayelsa State. The study utilized purposive random sampling technique. Major findings show that all productive efforts are measured by accurate time study and a standard time established for all work done in the workshop or office, more so, Management is based on definite rules, laws and principles. The study also revealed that wages are proportional to output and their rates are based on the standards determined by time study and paid according to output. The study therefore recommends that there should be mutual collaboration between workers and management towards effective staff performance, Managers and Administrators should be aware of the importance of compensation and other incentives in ensuring productivity.
