The Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Prof Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Gen. Abubaker Jeje ODONGO on September 22, 2021 at his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kampala. He was accompanied by Hon. Nusura Tiperu, a member of the University Council and Chairperson Estates Committee, and Prof Abdul Kaziba Mpaata, Vice-Rector in charge of Finance and Administration.

While briefing the Hon. Minister, the Rector and the IUIU leadership team called on the Minister to explore different ways through which the Ministry can help to mobilize and rally International support for the University, especially in the Agriculture and Health Science disciplines. He reiterated that Islamic University in Uganda was established in 1988 by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) under a bilateral agreement signed with Uganda.

Hon. Jeje Odongo while making his remarks, praised IUIU’s work in contributing to the Education sector in Uganda. IUIU has registered 37,000 graduates since its inception. He further pledged the Ministry’s commitment to the University’s efforts in growing its global partnerships and alliances which will support its vision of being a leading international center of educational excellence.
