IUIU Received New Students For 2022/2023 Academic Year

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) commenced the exercise of welcoming fresh students for the 2022/2023 academic year at all its campuses on Saturday 8th October 2022.

While continuing students, according to the almanac released by the Academic Registrar’s office, are expected to start their new academic semester on 16th October. 

On Thursday 13th October 2022, the fresh students of the August intake for the academic year 2022/2023 held their election of the chief fresher for both males and females during the orientation. In the position of male chief fresher three students expressed interest namely Musisi Ali Abubakar, Ssenfuma Solomon, and Welishe Tonny while for female chief fresher only two students expressed interest namely Namugabwe Mariam and Hasahya Joweriya.
However, after a stiff competition, Ssenfuma Solomon who scooped 34 votes was declared the male chief fresher and Hasahya Joweriya got 47 votes and was declared ad the female chief fresher.
Musisi Ali Abubakar who lost to Ssenfuma got 12 votes while Tonny got 7 votes. On the side of the female chief fresher, Namugabwe lost to Hasahya with 18 votes.

H.E Usama Ssekikofu, the Guild president of IUIU main campus commended new students for joining IUIU, citing that they really made the right choice to join IUIU and he promised them that they won’t regret it.
 
In his speech, Karim Ndagano an official from the Academic registrar’s office while addressing new students, he tipped them through all the processes, one has to go through while registering as a new student at IUIU.

He also cautioned new students(freshers) against malpractice during examination time at IUIU since this will amount to the penalty of discontinuation from the University. ‘Here at IUIU, there is no cheating on exams because if you do that the only punishment here is discontinuation may be in the future, they may get any other punishment. And mind you, you are required to attend 75% of lectures before you will be allowed to sit for the examination,’ he revealed.
