IUIU hosts Dinner at RUFORUM Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Harare

Pursuing IUIU's Internationalization agenda, the Rector, Assoc. Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda hosted several distinguished RUFORUM delegates in Harare, where the Annual General Meeting of RUFORUM (Regional Universities forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture) is taking place.
The Chief Guest was Hon. Monica Musenero Masanza, Uganda's Minister of STI, and among the 30 dignitaries was Prof. Mary Okwakor, ED of National Council for Higher Education, VC of UCU, Prof. Mushengyezi; VC of Bishop Stuart University, Prof. Kamatenesi; DVC of Kampala University, Dr. Wardah Rajab-Gyagenda as well as VCs and DVCs from Kenya, Malawi, Sudan, Mali and Benin.
The IUIU team included the Dean of Agribusiness and Natural Resources Sciences, Prof Muhammadnur Taha, Dr. Khadija Nakinsige, Senior Lecturer Food and Nutrition and Ms. Zamzam Ahmed from the Rector's Office.
The Rector and the Dean presented IUIU's plans for the upcoming Faculty and sought ideas from the delegates.
The STI Minister, Hon. Musenero appreciated the Rector's vision and implored IUIU to be more innovative with a curriculum that emphasizes value addition to agricultural products and supports national transformation rather than the traditional curriculum that was geared for production of raw materials and kept the African farmer poor.
The VCs advised IUIU to start small, establish a niche, use the RUFORUM model for value addition and entrepreneurship and promised to assist IUIU.
