The Rector at the Oxford Summit of Leaders & Socrates Award Ceremony

Today, Tuesday December 20th 2022, the Rector of IUIU, Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda addressed the Oxford Summit of Leaders at Oxford Town Hall, Oxford, UK.
As a Lifetime Professor of the Academic Union Oxford, he was invited as one of the speakers on the topic: "How do you see the University of the Future?"
He briefed the attendees about IUIU's growth over the years and it's innovative initiatives of ODeL (Open Distance e-Learning) and blended teaching and learning that saved the University during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also projected that successful Universities of the future must adapt and re-invent themselves to meet the needs of an ever changing 21st century world, with its mind-blowing smart technologies and a "dot.com" student population that is ever curious and has so much information at its disposal.
He called for mindset change among the BBC (Born Before Computer) faculty and for Universities to seek/embrace new models of teaching and financing in order to thrive.
The Summit brings scholars, innovators, and business leaders from 29 countries spread all over the world, including Albania, Azerbaijan, Columbia, Brazil, Ghana, Senegal, South Aftica, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Palestine, and UK
On Friday, the Rector will insha'Allah meet the IUIU Alumni fraternity UK at the Uganda community Masjid.
