Attending the 66th Session of the Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF)

Today Wednesday January 4th January 2023, the Rector of IUIU attended the 66th Session of the Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund at the headquarters of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
 
With the other Distinguished Board members, the session chaired by the President of the Permanent Council ISF, Ambassador Dr. Nasser bin Abdullah Al Zaabi, received the operations and financial reports from the ISF secretariat followed by discussions of challenges facing ISF.
 
 
Among participants were the Assistant Secretary General, Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Bakheet, the Permanent Representative of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Saleh Alsohaibani, HE Issa bin Nasser Al Sarkal( a member of IUIU Council), the Rector of the Islamic University in Niger and representatives of UAE, Kuwait, Turkiye, Egypt, Palestine, and Burkina Faso, and the Director of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), a major benefactor for IUIU.
 
 
The Rector addressed the session and gave a report on the current status of IUIU. The Rector thanked ISF for the tremendous support to IUIU over the years. The Rector gave an update of IUIU and it has weathered the Covid 19 pandemic disruption.
 
He appealed for further assistance from ISF to complete the Main Library of the University at Main Campus and a revolving fund for computers for our staff, who would pay for them in monthly instalments.
 
The meeting was earlier opened by the Secretary General of OIC, Ambassador Hissein Ibrahim Taha, who thanked ISF for their critical support of many humanitarian projects in OIC member countries, and called on member countries to contribute to the ISF so that they can carry out their noble mandate.
