The newly sworn in head of Islamic University in Uganda Student’s Union (IUSU) H.E Muhamud Ali Muhamud Abdulle has called upon his Cabinet and State ministers to serve with diligence and great commitment if they are to fulfill the promises they made to the students.

He made the call while delivering his first speech as the Guild president of the University during the Inauguration ceremony held at the institution’s main campus Mbale recently.

“I stand here before you, grateful for the trust you've bestowed upon me and my team. As your Guild President, with your cooperation I commit myself to fulfilling all I promised during the period I am to serve.” Muhamud stated.

The Guild president affirmed to the mammoth of students witnessing the ceremony that the success of the 2019-2020 regime will be a collective effort from both the students and the administration.

“The best leader is the one who listens and learns and for this I welcome new ideas from any one regardless of your status for as long as it is for the betterment of our University” He stated.

He thanked his predecessor Mohamad Noor for his service to the great institution as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

While awarding the outstanding performers for the 2018-2019 Guild leadership at the ceremony, the former Guild President Mohamed Noor Ibrahim advised his successor to focus on solving students’ issues and strengthening the bond between them and Administration.

“IUIU Administration is always supportive to students matters so all you need is to focus on working with your ministers as a team and surely nothing will go wrong” Mohamed advised.

The Vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs Professor Ismael Simbwa Gyagenda who represented the Rector as the guest of honor while closing the ceremony appreciated the former guild leadership for the great work during their tenure and advised the freshly sworn in team to serve the interest of their electorates.
