IUIU Students Guild Launches the 2K Campaign

Yesterday 22nd March 2023, Hon Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny, State Minister for Northern Uganda was at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Kampala Campus as the Chief Guest to Launch the 2K Campaign organised by the Students body of IUIU-KC. In attendance was the Rector, represented by Dr Jamil Serwanga, Vice Rector, Academics, Dr Twaha Ahmed Kasule, Director (Kampala Campus) and other staff members.

The university's student body had adopted a resolution of an idea brought by one of its cabinet ministers, which is non-other than the minister of off-campus affairs of the guild cabinet 2022-23. This idea was about a charity campaign within the university and other stakeholders.

The charity campaign was named the 2k campaign where students contributed 2000 Uganda shillings towards the cause. This campaign was running on all four IUIU campuses and the contributions will be handed over to the intended beneficiaries in northern Uganda. The 2k campaign team went ahead to form a partnership with the government of Uganda through the office of the prime minister, particularly the ministry for northern Uganda.

The intended beneficiaries are the nodding disease victims in northern Uganda, particularly in the Omoro District. "I take this opportunity to thank those who have given in as charity and the IUIU TEAM that has worked tirelessly to ensure that this programme runs and becomes the students' contribution towards those in need", the Guild President, IUIU-KC said.
