IUIU Signs MoU With Maryam Abacha American University of Kano, Nigeria

The Mou was signed online with both institutions signing from their locations.

The Rector of IUIU prof Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda signed on behalf of the Islamic university in Uganda and was accompanied by, the vice-rector in charge of academics Dr Jamil Serwanga, vice-rector in charge of finance prof. Abdul Kaziba Mpata, the university secretary Mr Sewankambo Hamza at the main campus in Mbale while the director of the Female's Campus Kabojja Dr Madina Nabukeera, Mr Abdallah Mutyaba from the Rector's Office witnessed the signing online on behalf of IUIU.

Speaking at the event, Prof (Dr) Mohammad Israr president of Maryam Abacha American university who also attended online said the MoU would create one of the best collaborations in Africa which will be beneficial in terms of internalization through staff extensions and research.

Prof Mpata emphasized the need to get the MoU active by putting it into action and that IUIU will benefit from the vast experience of Maryam university.

Dr Jamil Serwanga commended the Rector for connecting IUIU to Nigeria and through such collaborations, the visibility of IUIU will be enhanced.

In his remarks, Prof Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda highlighted the progress of IUIU in the last 35 years and its relationship with Nigeria in terms of scholarships, lecturers through the TAC program, and over 200 students from Nigeria currently at IUIU.

Prof Ismail also encouraged both universities to identify opportunities to link and work together like research.
