As a way of  giving back to the community, Islamic university in Uganda has organized an iftar programme that will see over 400 people break their fast at the university mosque.

The programme being spearheaded by the University Public relation office and Da’awa Liaison and Community outreach Department is intended for Muslims who might not be able to break the fast on their own.

Speaking to Ms. Rehema Kantono; the University Public relation Officer, she says during the iftar programme, fruits, juice and food will be served to the Muslims throughout the holy month.

“Islam always advises its followers to give plenty of charities, especially during the month Ramadan. And that supposes to be the manner of believers. As one of the Islamic Institutions in the world, it is a responsibility we owe to Allah” she stated.

A section of women enjoy iftar at the IUIU old female's mosque recently.

The program’s lead organizer Dr. Miiro Farouk revealed that compared to the previous years, this year’s number has almost doubled adding that more people are still expected to join as the holy month continues.
