IUIU Participates in the Uganda Deep Tech Summit 2024

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) welcomed 22 students awarded scholarships by the Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB) at the main campus in Mbale on September 19, 2024.
Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar, the Academic Registrar of IUIU, urged the students to prioritize their studies, emphasizing that the university has no tolerance for academic retakes. She encouraged the students to be well-rounded by participating in leadership and co-curricular activities.
Dr. Akbar also reassured them that her office is always open for guidance and assistance.
Ms. Jessica Khayanga, a loans officer at HESFB, expressed her appreciation for the strong partnership between IUIU and the board. She congratulated the students on securing the scholarship and advised them not to take the opportunity for granted. "Sit down, focus, and excel," she urged while warning them to avoid involvement in illegal activities.
Mr. Woira Bumali, the University Bursar, thanked the Government of Uganda and HESFB officials for their dedication to the program. He encouraged the students to remain committed to their academic pursuits, which would help them make the most of this life-changing opportunity.
Ganiyu Abdul, a program beneficiary, expressed gratitude to HESFB for granting all students the chance to pursue higher education. He also called on his fellow students to honor their commitments and work diligently during their time at IUIU.
The Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB), established under the Higher Education Students’ Financing Act, No. 2 of 2014, provides loans and scholarships to Ugandan students seeking to further their education.
