IUIU PARTICIPATES IN THE IMAU STUDENTS’ BRANCH ANNUAL CONVENTION.

Islamic University in Uganda has participated in a 4- day IMAU students’ branch convention that took place at the Fort Portal School of Health Sciences;
The convention brought together over 150 Muslim medical students from major training institutions, including IUIU—Habib Medical School, Makerere, Mbarara, Gulu, and Busitema Universities, as well as several Nursing and Allied Health training institutions.

The IUIU team was led by the university medical officer Dr. Naziru Rashid, who is also the Patron of the students’ branch of the Islamic Medical Association of Uganda (IMAU-SB). Accompanied by Dr. Namirembe Kauthara, Mr. Akram Mukalazi, the deputy Guild president at the Kampala Campus, and over 40 Participants from Habib Medical School.

During his opening keynote address speech entitled “Muslim Youth Leadership, Unity and the Role of Muslim Medical Students in Dawa”, Dr. Naziru encouraged the Muslim students to excel academically and to integrate Islamic teachings and principles in medical practice and encouraged them to research, read, write and disseminate Islamic Knowledge. 
The convention engaged participants in several activities including community cleaning, Hospital visits, prison visits, leading Juma prayers, sports, and touring activities among others. 

The event was closed by Imam Iddi Kasozi as the chief guest, who led participants in mobilizing funds for the construction of cooking facilities and ablution facilities for the mosque of the host institution. 
The participants also launched a campaign to establish a prayer place for the Muslim inmates at Fort Portal Prison.
