Final-year nursing students from Sect 13 at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus Mbale held a thanksgiving duwa on 23rd May, 2025, to thank Allah for guiding them through their academic journey as they look forward to graduating in December.
The event, brought together students, staff, and parents. Principal of the Nursing School, Ms. Namutebi Sarah, who served as Guest of Honour, commended the dedication of tutors and the university driver, Mzee Babiri, for ensuring students’ safety during clinical sessions at Mbale Referral Hospital.
“You are the engine of the institution. The bus cannot move without you,” Ms. Namutebi remarked, pledging her continued commitment to quality education. She urged students to uphold the values instilled by the university and to prepare themselves for the challenges of the professional world, especially issues related to workplace conduct and sexual temptations.

Staff representative Mr. Bwambale Asinani encouraged students to act as ambassadors of IUIU in their workplaces. “Your actions can either promote or destroy the image of IUIU,” he said. He also promoted agriculture as a viable supplementary livelihood and advised students to maintain compassion in patient care without demanding payment, reminding them of their nursing oath.
Finalist Nakasule Patricia Claire thanked God, tutors, and parents for their support, urging fellow students to stay focused and cautious until graduation. “A small mistake can hinder our success,” she warned.
