IUIU Soccer Club has concluded a successful season with a renewed focus on improving their attacking prowess ahead of the next campaign, according to Head Coach and Sports Administrator Haruna Kebba.
Speaking on Monday, May 26, 2025, ahead of their final Eastern Regional League match which saw a 2-1 loss to Nakaloke FC, Kebba praised his team’s balanced performance throughout the season, particularly their solid defence.
"This season has had a very good team, balanced from goalkeeping to defence. We’ve had one of the best defences, conceding very few goals,” Kebba said.
However, he acknowledged a weakness in the forward line. “We’ve been creating chances sometimes seven or eight per game but we’ve lacked a pinpoint finisher. That’s been our biggest limitation,” he added.
Despite this, IUIU FC has enjoyed a strong run, earning the nickname “Kayembe Ground” for their dominant home form at the Main Campus In mbale. “Nobody survives on that field,” Kebba stated proudly.
The club also made a historic appearance in the semi-finals of the University Football League (UFL), their best performance since 2017. Kebba credited early and consistent preparation for the team’s overall success.
“We were the first team to start preparation, and it has made all the difference. That’s the trick we’ll stick with,” he noted.
