Islamic University in Uganda has graduated 2, 248 students; 1, 270 are from main campus Mbale, 707 from Kampala campus, 153 from Females campus Kabojja and 118 from Arua campus. Overall, 51% of the gradaunds are male, making a slim edge of one per cent over the 1,095 (49%) females.

According to the University Academic Registrar (AR), Dr Halima Akbar Wakabi, 10% (214 students) obtained first class degrees, 87% (1, 868) second class, while only 3% (64 students) got pass degrees.

Dr Halima describes this year’s general performance as being better than the previous one.

“We have a bigger completion rate compared to last year; even the performance in terms of class divisions is better,” she said.

The AR also categorized that male candidates slightly performed better than female counterparts in most fields, save for the female-dominated midwifery program.

She implored the graduates to strive hard and make a positive impact in the lives of their communities by putting to proper practice the skills acquired.
