The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus in Mbale held vibrant Eid al-Adha celebrations on Friday, June 2025 bringing together hundreds of people, including staff, students, and members of the surrounding communities.
The event was marked by the slaughtering and distribution of over 1,000 cows and numerous goats donated by supporters from Turkey. The animals were delivered to the IUIU farm and distributed to beneficiaries across different locations.
Prof. Abdul Kaziib Mpaata, the Vice-Rector for Finance and Administration, expressed gratitude to the international donors and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering unity and service.
"We thank our brothers from the 25 countries represented at IUIU. Turkey especially played a significant role by donating 1,000 cows to support our communities,” Prof. Mpaata said.
Prof Mpaata further delivered a message from the Rector, which emphasized patience, truthfulness, and prayer, drawing from Islamic teachings. He also called on Ugandans to safeguard the peace enjoyed in the country and warned against those who seek to destabilize it for personal gain.
Dr. Sulait Kabali, Chairperson of the Daawa Liaison and Community Outreach Committee, led the efforts in distributing meat. “We distributed meat to families in areas such as Nakaloke, Namunsi, Nkoma, Bugema, Doko, and Kamonkoli. This is part of our mission to strengthen brotherhood and reach out to the community,” he noted.
Dr. Kabali encouraged students to carry the spirit of giving into their future endeavors after graduation, highlighting the university's long-standing commitment to community support.
‘’IUU is always doing such exercises, such practices, such projects to the Muslim community and other communities. Helping each other is very important and we request that our students imitate the same After they graduate, they do the same and they continue helping the communities from here and there.’’
