IUIU Hosts Annual Legal Empowerment Summit 2026 to Promote Access to Justice

The Islamic University in Uganda is attending the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, scheduled for 21-22 June 2025, in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Representing IUIU at the summit was the Rector, Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, who joined other distinguished delegates, including Hon. Gen. Jeje Odongo Abubakher, Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Also present at the session were Dr. Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs; H.E. Hon. Nusura Tiperu Omar, Uganda’s Ambassador to Türkiye; and H.E. Amb. Aftab Ahmed Khokher, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Science and Technology.
The 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers provided a platform for Muslim-majority countries to discuss global issues, foster cooperation, and strengthen diplomatic ties. For the Islamic University in Uganda, participating in this forum enhances its global engagement, facilitates knowledge sharing, and opens opportunities for international collaborations.
The 51st Session emphasized multilateral cooperation, strengthening solidarity and coordination to confront shared challenges and, protect and advance the collective interests of the Ummah / Muslim World.
