The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is hosting a workshop focused on the development of reference learning materials for the Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAC) programme at its Main Campus, running from 4th to 7th May 2026.

The workshop has brought together subject specialists and academic experts from leading institutions, including Busitema University, Gulu University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Soroti University, and Moni University. The engagement is facilitated by the Forum for African Women Educationalists Uganda, with technical and institutional support from the National Curriculum Development Centre.

According to Ken Rogers, the Programme Officer FAWE, the objective of the workshop is to collaboratively develop standardized, high-quality reference materials for the HEAC programme, a bridging initiative for students who did not meet the minimum Direct entry requirements into higher education. The materials being developed will cover a wide range of core subjects, including Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Mathematics, Literature, and English.
By convening experts from diverse academic backgrounds, the workshop provides a platform for knowledge exchange, peer review, and alignment with national curriculum standards. Participants are expected to contribute their subject expertise to ensure the materials are relevant, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving educational needs of learners across Uganda.
