IUIU Strengthens Partnership with IICO–Kuwait to Expand Student Sponsorships and Collaboration

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has hosted representatives from the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) – Kuwait Office on 29 September 2026 for a high-level engagement aimed at strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two institutions and exploring new areas of collaboration.
The delegation was received by the Rector of IUIU at the University’s Kampala Campus for a fruitful and forward-looking discussion on opportunities to further support the University’s academic and institutional development.
The engagement included Engineer Saami Muhammad Zainul Abidin and Mr. Abdelaziz Abaker Mohamed, the outgoing Country Director of the IICO–Uganda Office. Mr. Mustafa Elsayed Osman Elsayed, the newly appointed IICO Country Director for Uganda, was represented at the meeting.
Also in attendance were the Director and Deputy Director of IUIU–Kampala Campus, Mr. Hamid Byamugenzi from the Liaison Office, and other University officials.
The discussions focused on strengthening the partnership through increased student sponsorship opportunities, expanding collaboration into additional areas, and enhancing IICO’s continued support towards the University’s academic and development agenda.
Both sides also discussed the possibility of broadening the scope of their partnership and formalising new areas of cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the coming days.
The engagement reaffirmed IUIU’s commitment to building strong strategic partnerships with international institutions and development partners to create greater opportunities for its students, strengthen academic programmes, and contribute to sustainable institutional growth.
Together, IUIU and its partners continue to advance opportunities that empower students, strengthen communities, and transform lives through education.
