IUIU Awards staff as the institution commemorates the World Labour Day.

Hundreds of Staff of the Islamic University in Uganda converged at Females Campus Kabojja to celebrate World Labour Day under the theme of socializing and networking. 

The celebration involved awarding excelling staff from the different IUIU campuses, socializing, and sports activities like football, netball, volleyball, and other games.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy University Secretary Mr. Rashid Kinsambwe explains that the University brings together families of staff to network, socialize, celebrate, and share meals as a way of commemorating the contribution the staff make to the development of the world.

The Chairman IUIU teaching staff, Mr Karim Osuje informed the Rector the teaching staff of IUIU have tirelessly and endurably delivered their mandate of imparting necessary knowledge to students.

He commended the Rectorship for a policy still in the pipeline to waive part of the tuition for students whose parents work with an Islamic University in Uganda.

The representative of IUNASA Mr. Mudiya Mubaraka expressed hopes that the Rector will consider improving the staff numeration and wages for the dedication and commitment they exhibit during their work.

The University Secretary Mr Hamza Ssewankambo thanked the members of staff for turning up for the 17th staff party and commended the rector for supporting the program.

Mr. Hamza added that the event creates a bond between the management, members of staff, and their families. He urged the staff present and their families to network with other guests and thanked Post Bank for supporting the program with 5 million shillings.

The Associate Relationship Manager Post Bank & student at IUIU, Ms Shariah Birungi mentioned that the Bank is ready to partner with the institution and pledged their support towards the forthcoming 3rd edition of the RUN for a girl child education.

In the awards, Dr. Aina-Obe Shamsuddin Bolatito, Lecturer from the faculty of management studies was awarded as best researcher and the award for best faculty went to the faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. 

Mr. Najja Twaha, Assistant Lecturer Famales Campus, Mr. Baduga Ahmed, Assistant Lecturer Arua Campus, Dr. Aina-Obe Shamsuddin Bolatito, Lecturer Main Campus, Mr. Walusimbi Hakim, Lecturer Kampala campus received awards for Best Academic Staff from the different campuses.

The award for best Best Administrative staff was given to Ms. Namanda Hali Administrative Secretary Kampala campus, Ms. Swafat Umar, Accounts Assistant Arua Campus, and Mr. Magezi Masha Computer Laboratory Officer Females Campus. 

The best Support Staff award went to Mr. Mutaasa Sulaiman, Driver Females Campus, Ms. Muduwa Aisha, Office Assistant Main Campus, Mr. Ssemudu Umar Aliddeki, Security Guard Kampala Campus. 

Best Daawa Award was awarded to Mr. Nsumba Muhamoud, Assistant Lecturer Females’ Campus, Mr. Ssekalema Hamzah ERP manager Main Campus, Mr. Bifamengo Yusuf, Teaching Assistant Kampala Campus.

The Vice Rector of Finance Prof. Abdu Kaziba Mpata disclosed that the Rectorship is in support of the plan to improve the welfare of staff and He tasked the staff to share ideas that can generate funds for the initiative. 

The Director Females Campus Kabojja Assoc. Prof Madinah Nabukeera commended the organizers for hosting the event at the IUIU females’ campus and called for support towards various university activities emphasizing the ‘’RUN for a Girl Child Education’’. The event is organized annually to raise funds to support girls' education and create widespread awareness about the importance of girl child education.

Dr. Jamil Serwanga, the Vice-Rector in charge of Academic Affairs, commended the Director of the Females Campus, Associate Professor Madinah Nabukeera, for her outstanding efforts in hosting the event, and extended his thanks to the sponsors, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Post Bank, whose support contributes significantly to the success of the institution. 

Dr Jamil also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the staff, recognizing their invaluable contribution to the advancement of the university's mission and goals, and expressed gratitude to the parents for entrusting their children's education to IUIU.

The University Rector Associate Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda highlighted the steady progress of the university and commended the staff for their endurance and dedication in serving the University. He reminded the staff to work together as one team, forgive each other, and support each other.

He urged the staff to support the recruitment of more students and design more academic programs to boost the University's revenue to improve the staff welfare.

At the end of the event, IUIU main campus emerged victorious in the sports competitions of football, netball, and volleyball taking back trophies and goats as prizes.
