Bachelor of Arts In Economics

Programme Overview

The BAECON program is a three-year full-time academic program that includes required courses and field work activities. It is built in accordance with the Uganda National Council for Higher Education's (UNCHE) University Semester / Credit System. The first academic year will be divided into two semesters (classwork and field trips, with no recess). The second academic year will consist of two semesters and a ten-week break. The third academic year will consist of only two semesters (there will be no break term in the third year). During a semester or a break term, university examinations will be held at the end of each course module.

Admission Requirements

This programme is generally intended for qualified university students and practicing 
individuals who wish to attain the understanding of economic studies on the theoretical and 
practical level. The programme is designed to offer training mainly for those who wish to work as economists in research organizations, government and non – governmental organizations, academicians and in other fields. Thus the admission requirements for this programme are;-

1. Holders of Uganda Advanced certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least two principal passes in relevant any subjects obtained in the same sitting. In addition, the candidate must have at least 6 credit scores from the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination with a credit three (C3) in Mathematics.
2. Diploma holders in related disciplines from recognized institutions are eligible for admission.
3. Candidates who have done and passed relevant Mature Age examinations.
4. Higher Education Access Certificate holders from recognized institutions
