Islamic University in Uganda Hosts 6th International Islamic Universities Conference

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is hosting the 6th International Islamic Universities Conference (IIUC), a three-day event that commenced today, August 4, and will run until August 6.
The conference, organized by the Islamic University in Uganda and the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), has brought together scholars from over six international Islamic universities to discuss key academic themes.
This year's conference theme is "Integration of Knowledge Synthesis Across Disciplines: A Holistic Transdisciplinary Framework."
The goal of the event is to foster new collaborations, enhance scholarship, and make a tangible impact on the future of research.
The Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda, Prof. Ismail Ssimbwa Gyagenda, officially opened the 6th International Islamic Universities Conference. He expressed his appreciation to the esteemed guests for honoring the university's invitation to attend the conference. He commended the International Institute of Islamic Thought for initiating and continuously supporting this important program. Prof. Gyagenda emphasized the importance of collaboration in the field of research and wished all guests and participants fruitful deliberations throughout the conference.
In his welcoming remarks, the IUIU's Vice Rector for Academics, Dr. Jamilu Serwanga, highlighted how the theme aligns with the university's mission to be a "leading Center of Excellence for Social Development" and to create knowledge based on Islamic values. He encouraged participants to contribute to the growth of the Ummah through their discussions.
Dr. Mayimuna Nimulola, Director of Research and Innovation at IUIU, provided an overview of the IIUCs, noting that they were conceived by the IIIT to provide a forum for Muslim academics to discuss important issues concerning Islamic knowledge and practice. Bro. Abdul Hamid Slatch, the East Africa Regional Coordinator for the IIIT, commended IUIU for its "wonderful organization" and thanked all participating universities for their support. The conference promises to be a platform for meaningful discussions and collaborative growth, shaping the future of knowledge and research within Islamic academia.
