The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Congratulates the Daily Monitor Publications Limited upon reaching 30 years of operating as a newspaper in Uganda. This newspaper was established in 1992 as The Monitor and relaunched as the Daily Monitor in June 2005. For the past 30 years, the Daily Monitor has supported academic students by offering them internship placements, job training and supporting the journalism industry in Uganda.
On the same note, IUIU is thankful for the continued relationship between Daily Monitor and IUIU. With this, Daily Monitor and Nation Media Group, in general, have trained and employed numerous IUIU mass communication graduates across the region; we pray that the relationship continues.
Daily Monitor’s 30th Anniversary commemoration was held at Serena Hotel conference center Victoria Hall. IUIU was represented by Dr. Muyingo Rajab Idd, the Head of the Mass Communication Department, plus two Mass Communication Students, Nakafeero Mariam and Owere Fahadi. Chief Justice Alfonse C. Owiny-Dollo, as the keynote speaker, graced this event and cautioned journalists always to follow Ethics and guidelines and to tell the truth.
