IUIU Guild Leadership Dissolved, Interim Government Takes Over

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) main campus Mbale witnessed the transition in its student leadership as the guild government, led by HE Shebunya Shafic, was officially dissolved following the expiration of its term of office.

 

The ceremony, which was overseen by the Office of the University Coordinator in accordance with Chapter 4, Subsection 3 of the university’s Guild constitution, saw the peaceful transfer of leadership tools to an interim government headed by the Guild Speaker, Shafic Kawooya, who will oversee student affairs until a new guild government is elected.

 

During the ceremony, Mr. Mukhwana Siraji, the University Coordinator in charge of Student Affairs, praised the outgoing guild government for its exemplary leadership and cooperation with the university administration and the student body.

 

Mr. Mukhwana expressed his gratitude to the outgoing leaders for their dedication and urged them to continue embodying the qualities of good leadership in their future endeavors. He added that The interim government, led by Guild Speaker Shafic Kawooya, will now take charge of managing student affairs until a new guild government is elected.  

 

The interim administration will organize elections for the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, followed by the general guild elections.

 

In his address, Interim Guild President Shafic Kawooya commended the outgoing government for its remarkable efforts and achievements during its tenure. He called for their continued support and collaboration, particularly in addressing pending programs and initiatives within their respective offices.
