IUIU Hosts Allied Health Verification Team for Nutrition Program Accreditation

  • 02nd December, 2025 9:58am

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) received a delegation from the Ministry of Health’s Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council for an inspection and verification exercise of the University’s Food Science and Nutrition program on 01st December 2025 at the main campus in mbale.

The team, led by Mr. Nyamutale Peter, Registrar of the Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council, was warmly welcomed by the Vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jamil Serwanga, on behalf of the University leadership. The Rector also addressed the guests, commending the Council for its continued support towards strengthening health-related academic programs in the country.

Mr. Nyamutale explained that the Council’s core mandate is to register and regulate the training and practice of health professionals across Uganda. The visit to IUIU was prompted by the need to verify the facilities and standards for training graduates in Food Science and Nutrition, a program the University has been offering for some time.

He revealed that although IUIU has produced 133 graduates in this field and currently has 39 students undergoing training, the University had not previously undergone the Council’s verification process. This came to light when graduates approached the Council for registration.

During the visit, the delegation inspected key training facilities including the skills laboratory, library, and teaching spaces. Mr. Nyamutale noted that the findings from the inspection will be compiled into a report to be presented before the Council.
