Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) welcomed a delegation from the International University of Africa (IUA) on August 1st, 2024, at the main campus in Mbale.
The guests were received by the Academic Registrar, Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar, at the office of the Rector.
The visit aimed to monitor and evaluate the examination process, meet Sudanese students from the IUA studying at IUIU due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan and strengthen the relationship between the two institutions while seeking collaboration in other areas.
This visit follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between IUIU and IUA in 2017, which enables staff development programs and activities between the two intuitions. Currently, IUIU is hosting 320 students from various African countries at the main campus in Mbale, who are set to take their exams.
Dr. Halima acknowledged the contribution of IUA to education across Africa, briefed the guests on the progress of integrating the students, and assured them of high-quality outcomes.
The guests commended IUIU and its administration for the partnership and for welcoming the students, expressing hope that the relationship will benefit both universities.
They also called for an emphasis on scientific research and implementing international standards for operationalization in universities.
