IUIU Hosts Third Annual Social Work students Dinner 2025

The Islamic University in Uganda Social Work and Social Administration students held their third annual Social Work Dinner on the 12th April 2025 at the Main Campus in Mbale.

The event, hosted brought together students, staff, and guests from across IUIU campuses, including Kampala and Females Campus, to celebrate the end of the academic year and witness the handover of leadership from the outgoing to the incoming student executive.

Speaking at the event, Mr Namigugu Ayub, Head of the Department, expressed pride in the department's unity and growth. The department houses programs such as the Master of Social Work, Postgraduate Diploma in Child Protection and Welfare, Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration, and Diploma in Social Work and Community Development.

“This dinner is a testimony that IUIU students actively engage in meaningful interaction and community building,” Ayub said, noting the participation of students from various campuses.

Distinguished guests included Brenda Arinda, the NSSF Area Manager, and the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, among others, who graced the event and interacted with students.

Maumbe Mubarak, a first-year student, praised the university’s environment, infrastructure, and academic standards, saying the event provided valuable opportunities for social networking and mentorship.

Mr Mavabi Zubail, a staff member in the department, emphasized the importance of such gatherings in bridging knowledge gaps and building strong alumni-student networks.

“We encourage our alumni to take part in these events to inspire and guide current students,” he said.
