Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

The Rector of Islamic University in Uganda, Assoc. Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda expressed the readiness and willingness of IUIU to work with investors to boost the endowment arm of the University. This move was revealed during the Turkiye-Africa Business and Economic Forum held on 12th-13th October 2023, in Istanbul, Turkiye. The event was presided over by the president of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and African Union chairperson, Comorian President Azali Assoumani.
During the forum, the Rector had several interactive discussions with various investors from all over Africa and Türkiye as well as the Ambassador of Uganda to Türkiye, Her Excellency Nusura Tiperu. The Rector persuaded various businessmen to work with IUIU through Joint venture agreements to boost the endowment arm of the University in health care, agribusiness, and other possible ventures.
He was also interviewed by a leading media group, Anadolu Agency on the various opportunities for investment in Uganda, particularly Islamic University in Uganda, and the positive effects of the education that Africans undergo out of the African continent. According to him, Universities like IUIU needed to participate in these kinds of forums to enable them to exploit the business opportunities available /that may help in their development. From Istanbul, the Rector proceeded to Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, where he will be participating in the staff week from 16th to 20th October 2023 and holding talks with his counterpart on the areas of collaboration.
