IUIU was represented by Dr. Babirye Khadijah (HOD, Food Science and Nutrition) and Dr. Nakyinsige Khadijah in the 1st High-Level Halal Sector Actors' Engagement organised by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry Uganda (ICCIU) held on 15th October 2026 at Kingdom Kampala, under the theme: "Understanding Halal and Halal systems at the Institutional Level".
Given Uganda's rapidly growing Halal industry, IUIU has constructed and is in the final stages of equipping the Halal Authentication Laboratory, which will be the first in the region and whose services will benefit the public, mainly Halal certification bodies, exporters, and manufacturers.
This engagement brought together key stakeholders in the Halal sector, including certification bodies, financial institutions, academia, development organizations, and trade associations.
The engagement fostered partnerships in advancing Uganda's Halal Economy and strengthening Institutional collaboration for sustainable socio-economic development.
