Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

The Islamic University in Uganda participated in the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA) Scientific council meeting and scientific conference hosted in Cape Town South Africa between 6th and 12th August 2024.
IUIU was represented by the university medical officer Dr. Naziru Rashid accompanied by members of the Islamic Medical Associations of Uganda (IMAU), led by the executive director of IMAU who is also a member of the academic affairs committee of the IUIU university Council Prof. Magid Kagimu.
Dr. Naziru Rashid presented an annual report of IMAU outlining the contributions of the Muslim health professionals in Uganda. These included among others, the mobilization of fellow Muslim health workers in the country and the East African region, offering free medical services, through medical camps, streamlining leadership at the different levels, and strengthening and improving working partnerships with other organizations including IUIU and IMAU.
During the meeting IUIU was admitted into the Consortium of the Islamic medical Colleges, a project of FIMA and Dr. Naziru was appointed as a member of the CIMCO committee.
