IUIU Signs MoU with Universitas Syiah Kuala in Indonesia

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic collaboration with Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), a state university in Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

The agreement, signed on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Rector’s office in Banda Aceh, seeks to strengthen cooperation in key areas such as joint research and publications, exchange of students and staff, as well as sharing academic resources and outcomes.

IUIU was represented by Prof. Abdul Mpaata Kaziba, Vice Rector for Finance and Administration, who signed on behalf of Rector Prof. Dr. Ismail Gyagenda. USK was represented by its Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan.

The ceremony was witnessed by members of the Ugandan delegation including Prof. Magidu Kagimu, a member of IUIU’s University Council, and Dr. Naziru Rashid, the University Medical Officer, alongside dignitaries from the host university.

Speaking at the signing, both institutions expressed optimism that the MoU would benefit students, staff, and the wider communities of the two universities through strengthened academic and educational exchange.
