Thirteen (13) students of the Islamic University in Uganda - Kampala Campus, completed a boot camp-based entrepreneurship training program, conducted by StartHub Africa in partnership with Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. The 5-days intensive training dubbed “Ignite Entrepreneurship”, took place from 27th March and ended on 1st April 2023. It covered aspects crucial to translating an innovative idea into a successful business. These included: - group-based Ideation, business modelling and customer research, the financial feasibility analysis of a business idea, product development and marketing, as well as strategic planning and pitching for funding. The self-motivated carefully selected trainees were drawn from different academic programmes at IUIU’s Kampala Campus.
As a follow-up to this training, StartHub Africa has scheduled a pitch event for May 2023, in which the 13 trainees will have an opportunity to pitch their new ideas with business potential for possible funding. “In the meantime, we shall continue to offer as much support as possible to these trainees until the pitching day”, said Gerald Geria, StarHub Africa’s Student Club Coordinator.
The events leading up to this training and the training itself were coordinated by the office of the Students Guild of Kampala Campus. “This was very beneficial training for us, especially considering the much-needed entrepreneur skills as we prepare to leave this University student life. It is my request that the University continues to identify such hands-on training opportunities for our students”, said Mr Nsubuga Munyiirwa Ramadhan, the outgoing IUIU-Kampala Campus Guild President.
It should be recalled that this training opportunity came shortly after IUIU signed an MoU with StartHub Africa on the 6th of March 2023. “This is indeed a great way to demonstrate the potential benefits of our MoU with StartHub Africa. We are grateful to them for making this training possible because it was through them that the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, a Germany University, offered to sponsor the training”, says Dr Umar Yahya, the Head of IUIU-MARL and IUIU-StartHub MoU coordinator.
