Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

Students from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) participated in a comprehensive training on insurance organized by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) of Uganda on Tuesday, 15th October 2024, at the Main Campus in Mbale.
The training aimed to equip students with practical knowledge about the insurance industry. It covered various topics such as the role of the IRA in Uganda’s insurance space, the different types of insurance, and the importance of insurance in everyday life. Students were also encouraged to consider pursuing careers in the insurance sector, which presents emerging opportunities for young professionals.
Hajj Bukenya Yasin, IRA Eastern Region In-charge, shared that the Authority recently opened a regional office in Mbale to enhance access to insurance services and public awareness. He emphasized that the IRA remains committed to educating the public and fostering a culture of insurance in the region.
Ms. Chepkurui Diana, a student at IUIU, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to attend the session. And I look forward to securing health insurance shortly.
The IUIU Guild President, H.E. Sebunya Shafie, applauded the IRA for organizing the workshop noting that the students greatly benefited from the session and are eager for similar engagements with the IRA.
