IUIU to Host OIC's Cultural Activity
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) will host a cultural activity organized by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) together with IUIU under the theme "Culture, Education, and Development: Experiences from the Muslim World".Â
According to a statement issued by OIC Secretariat in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , the event will take place from 11th to 12th June, 2022.Â
A statement adds that the event will involve several activities both from local and international participants.Â
"The cultural activity program consists of numerous cultural and social activities such as lectures, exhibitions, local folklore, cultural dressing, poetry, local and international cuisines, Qur'an recitation, sport and games, scientific research, as well as workshops on practical issues including entrepreneurship, leadership,capacity- building etc," reads a statement.
According to a statement, the two day event will provide a unique opportunity for the students, faculties, community leaders and participating guests to celebrate values of cultural diversity , intercultural understanding and peaceful coexistence and tolerance.
The event will involve activities from all OIC member countries. Meanwhile, IUIU students have been advised to prepare activities ahead of the event. The event is expected to take place at the Islamic University in Uganda Females' Campus in Wakiso district.
The OIC which is the world’s second largest inter-governmental organisation (57 Member States) after the United Nations (UN) has four universities in the world namely the International Islamic University Malaysia, the Islamic University of Technology Bangladesh, the Islamic University in Uganda and the Islamic University in Niger.
