IUIU Welcomes New TAC Members

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) welcomed a Technical Aid Corps (TAC) team of 18 members from Nigeria and Egypt at the university boardroom on Monday, July 22, 2024.

The event was attended by Rector Assoc. Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs Dr. Jamil Serwanga, Academic Registrar Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar, and University Secretary Mr. Sewankambo Hamza.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Hamza warmly welcomed the TAC members from Nigeria and Egypt to the IUIU community and wished them the best during their stay.

The chairperson of the TAC members expressed gratitude to the university for organizing the ceremony and praised the hospitality they had received since their arrival.

He assured the university that the team brought a wealth of experience to share.

Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar, the Academic Registrar of IUIU, also welcomed the guests and thanked the Nigerian government for the program, as well as the TAC director and the Nigerian High Commission for including IUIU in the initiative.

"As Academic Registrar, we are delighted to have you here. We recognize the sacrifices you make to make things happen and thank you for serving humanity," she stated.

Vice-Rector Dr. Jamil Serwanga emphasized the significance of the visit, noting that it was a great moment for the university. He assured that IUIU would make the most of the presence and expertise of the TAC members to benefit the institution and humanity.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Ismail Gyagenda welcomed the guests and thanked the governments of Nigeria and Egypt for creating the program and sending their staff to IUIU. He provided an overview of the university's history to the guests and prayed for Allah to accept their sacrifices.

He also called upon IUIU staff to collaborate with the TAC members to achieve the institution's goals.
