Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has emerged as the winner of the Eastern Uganda Youth Climate Debate, hosted at the University’s Main Campus in Mbale in partnership with the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) Uganda and GAYO Eco Clubs.
The debate brought together students from various institutions, including Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mbale Campus; Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Mbale Campus; and Mbale School of Hygiene, providing a platform for young people to engage in discussions on climate change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative aims to empower young people to deepen their understanding of environmental challenges affecting their communities, strengthen their advocacy and critical-thinking skills, and develop practical recommendations for addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.
IUIU’s victory highlights the University’s commitment to nurturing informed, innovative and environmentally conscious young people who can contribute to addressing pressing environmental challenges and advancing sustainable development in their communities.
