JOB ADVERTISEMENT: Senior Lecturer - 28th April 2025

The Islamic University in Uganda invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position.

JOB TITLE: Senior Lecturer (1 POST)
Responsible to: Rector through the Academic Registrar.
Salary Scale: IUA3 (Two-year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance)
Location: IUIU Main Campus, Mbale.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Spearhead the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the Islamic University in Uganda, Mbale.

2. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Faculty on all matters.

3. Spearhead the development of the curricula in Engineering at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

4. Work closely with the relevant University organs on the maintenance and observance of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology quality and resource assurance standards.

5. Conduct research and publications, and also mentor juniors in research and publication.

6. Conduct teaching and assessment of the students.

7. Mobilise resources to ensure the self-sustainability of the Faculty.

8. Perform other professional duties as may be assigned by the Rector or Academic Registrar from time to time.

Minimum Qualification and Requirements: a) Should have a PhD in the relevant discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering).
b) Should have a minimum of three years teaching or research experience at the level of Lecturer in a University or reputable organisation.
c) Must have published at least three articles in peer-reviewed journals or at least three book chapters or one book with an ISBN Number (in the area of specialisation) since the last promotion.
d) Should have contributed to community service.

NOTE:
Other benefits for the post include a housing allowance of 20% of basic salary and free medical treatment for self, spouse(s), and four biological children below 18 years of age at the University Health Centre.
