Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

Mantra Technologies Uganda Ltd started delivery of ICT equipments to Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) which will enhance Digitalisation of Education and the Learning environment. This undertaking is part of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Phase II (IsDB Phase II) project whose theme is: “Enhancing the Learning Environment at IUIU”. The project focuses on ICT infrastructure enhancement, Acquisition of Audio/ Video conferencing systems and a Multimedia Production and Digital Studio.
The ICT equipment supplied by Mantra Technologies Uganda Ltd will provide excellent industry leading ICT systems at IUIU that will support:
On 4th March, 2022, The Rector of IUIU, Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda signed a contract between IUIU and Mantra Technologies Uganda Ltd to supply ICT equipment earmarked under iSDB Phase II project. The delivery of equipment is expected to take three months to complete (July to September). However, deployment of all the ICT equipment is expected to take six (6) months to complete.
Through IsDB Phase II project, IUIU is receiving excellent industry leading ICT systems that support 100% Wi-Fi/ Internet coverage inside all campuses, in addition to supporting Digitalisation processes improved Education to greatly support eLearning and blended learning facilities. The IsDB Phase II project will result in greater efficiency of education and work operations at IUIU due to Digitalisation processes.
The IsDB Phase II project is expected to significantly improve IUIU’s brand in Uganda and Internationally. Overall, IUIU students and staff will be the beneficiaries, especially the capacity for expanded distance learning which will attract more students especially the international students who may study from the comfort of their home environment.
The university extends its gratitude to the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for facilitating the loan and the Government of Uganda under the leadership of H.E Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda, for guaranteeing the loan.
