Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

The new Executive Director of National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has applauded IUIU for being an exceptional university in complying with the council’s policies.
Prof. Mary. J.N Okwakol made the revelation during a recent meeting with IUIU Rectorship, Heads of Department and Faculty Deans at the University’s main campus Mbale.Â
Okwakol, accompanied by the council’s Public relations officer was on a familiarization tour to Higher Academic Institutions as the Council’s new Executive Director.
“I am pleased with IUIU’s quality assurance, we barely find issues with you people in regards to the National council’s policies and operational requirements. We hope that you keep it up” she detailed.
 She further acknowledged that IUIU has continued to produce quality graduates who have not only exhibited good performance in their workplaces but also demonstrated good work ethics which has positioned them at the Centre of opportunities.
The new NCHE Executive Director encouraged the University to put more emphasis on research, Innovation and the incorporation of skills-based training in its curriculum. Â
“Our research and innovation sector as a country is so much wanting and it’s your role as Higher Academic Institution to help lift it. I think encouraging research and innovation among your staffs through providing internal funding and acquiring the facilities shall help solve most of the problems facing our communities” she implored.
Okwakol also revealed that NCHE is working closely with the government especially the responsible Ministries to secure funds that will be directed to help boost research and innovation programmes.
