Assoc. Prof. Matovu Highlights Successful PhD Dissertation Defense at IUIU

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has marked a historic milestone with its 32nd Graduation Ceremony held on Saturday 9th December 2023 at the main campus in Mbale.
The ceremony was graced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni represented by Vice President H.E Jessica Alupo.
2570 students graduated in various disciplines, showcasing the institution's commitment to education. A noteworthy highlight was the substantial representation of female graduates, constituting 56 percent of the total graduates, underscoring IUIU's dedication to promoting girl child education.
Female students have continued to showcase remarkable academic achievement by Outshining their male counterparts, 129 female graduates attained first-class honors compared to 118 males, exemplifying the exceptional academic prowess of the women at IUIU.
During the event, Rt. Hon. General (Rtd) Moses Ali, the Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, was conferred with a Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa. His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Abdallah Al-Khuzayem, the outgoing Executive Director of the Islamic Solidarity Fund, was awarded a Doctor of Letters, Honoris Causa. Their remarkable contributions to both humanity at large and specifically to the advancement of the Islamic University in Uganda were acknowledged through these honors.
In his address, the Rector of IUIU, Associate Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, commended the university staff for their unwavering commitment and hard work, attributing their dedication as a cornerstone of IUIU's success. prof Ismail congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of exams, expressing pride in the institution's role in nurturing minds and hearts to realize their full potential.
The council chairperson of IUIU H.E Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdulrazaq Sayyid Ebrahim A. Altabtabael commended the government of Uganda for the valuable support it continues to give to the Islamic university in Uganda.
He added that the council is working with member states and OIC institutions to mobilize the necessary support to ensure that IUIU is facilitated to execute its mandate in the best way possible.
The Vice President of the Republic of Uganda H.E Jessica commended IUIU for living up to the expectations of the Ugandan Government. She thanked the University for indiscriminately providing scholarships to the needy students.
