RECTOR'S CONDOLENCE MESSAGE TO HAJJI BULAIMU MUWANGA KIBIRIGE FAMILY
- 11th September, 2021 12:00am
It is with profound sorrow that we received the news of the sudden demise of the long-serving member of the Estates, Planning and Development Committee of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Council, Dr. Hajj Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige, a.k.a BMK, which occurred on Friday 10th September 2021, in Nairobi, Kenya
On behalf of the Management, Staff, and students of the IUIU and my behalf, allow me to offer most profound condolences to the BMK family, friends, and the entire BMK Group of Companies for the passing on of Dr. Bulaimu M. Kibirige.
Indeed, the late Dr. BMK played a fatherly role in providing wise counsel during the planning and development of the IUIU, especially Main Campus, regarding the IsDB projects and other construction works. He was very instrumental and contributed immensely during the entire process of both phase one and two of the IsDB projects. Not only that, but he also provided constructive and positive critiques to the internal Estates and Works staff
He offered a discount on all IUIU guests who stayed at Hotel Africana, offered free boardroom space and meals to the Estates, planning and development committee members in all meetings. His death has created a gap in the Estates council committee and a heavy toll on the technical members; Hon. Nusura Tiperu (Chairperson), Eng. Badru Kiggundu (Vice-chairperson) and Mr. Muhammad Kibirige Mayanja (Member), and the entire IUIU team.
For the Muslim community in Uganda and across the region, the community notes with pride that the departed philanthropic was a true believer of unity, peace, and development. He was a man of great intellect, vision, and courage who contributed immensely to Muslim unity and development. He dedicated himself to building bridges to a better future, and in this way, he touched the lives of all Muslims in the country and beyond.
Early this year, he launched his biography "My Story of Building A Fortune in Africa," which chronicles his incredible journey from a humble beginning to one of the top business icons of Uganda and the region. He started Hotel Africana in a humble way, but now Hotel Africana is a famous brand with its presence in Kampala, Lusaka, and Moroto.
Today we mourn the passing of a great son of the Republic of Uganda, the Muslim community, and a great businessman who has left behind a powerful legacy of humility, simplicity, and dedication in our struggle for unity, peace, and development in the country and across the in East Africa.
The entire IUIU and I share with the bereaved family, Employees of BMK Group of Companies, the government, and the people of the Republic of Uganda, the feelings of significant loss at this moment of deep sorrow.
May the Almighty Allah accept his righteous deeds, forgive his shortcomings, and admit him in Jannah! Ameen.
