Forging a Holistic Path: Key Findings from the 6th IIUC Conference on IUIU’s Medical Curriculum

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) hosted Rwanda’s Mufti, Sheikh Musa Sindayigaya, on Thursday 12th June 2025 at its main campus in Mbale to establish deeper collaboration in Islamic education and leadership development.
The Mufti was welcomed by the IUIU Rector Prof. Ismail Gyagenda, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Jamil Sserwanga, and ViceRector for Finance Prof. Abdul Mpaata. Discussions centered on strengthening partnerships between IUIU and the Rwandan Muslim community, particularly in the area of imam training.
Mufti Musa noted that IUIU is recognized as a center for Islamic studies in the region. “Islamic University in Uganda is one of the leading institutions offering Islamic studies at various levels,” he stated.
The Mufti also congratulated the university upon the completion of its $13.5 million Faculty of Engineering, recently handed over by Vcon Construction Company Ltd, commending the administration for its progressive development efforts.
The visit marks a significant step toward regional cooperation in Islamic education and leadership.
