The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) welcomed Sheikh Zeeyad Ahmed Ravat the Mufti of Australia , who visited the university’s main campus in Mbale during his tour to Uganda.
The visit was marked by a spiritually uplifting Jummah Khutbah delivered at the university mosque, attended by hundreds of students and staff.
In his sermon, the Mufti emphasized the virtue of early attendance to prayer, commending the students for their dedication to Islamic values, noting the large congregation that had gathered well before the start of the prayer.
“It is after a very long time that I felt such electricity and acceleration within myself to deliver the best I have because of the audience’s attention and eagerness, Alhamdulillah.”
The Mufti also praised IUIU’s commitment to imparting knowledge in a faith-based environment, describing it as a place where thousands of young men and women pursue education while upholding Islamic traditions. “The Prophet (SAW) has told us that our key in life is knowledge, and here at IUIU, ilm is imparted beautifully and traditionally. Sisters are covered, brothers are attending classes, and they are in the hands of great professionals, MashaAllah,” he observed.
Following the Khutbah, the Mufti was hosted by university management and briefed on IUIU’s achievements and ongoing initiatives. He expressed admiration for the institution and highlighted the potential for future collaboration. “We look forward to building long-term partnerships between our organization and this beautiful university, and to opening doors for IUIU to strengthen ties with universities and organizations in Australia and abroad,” he remarked.
