Students of Islamic University In Uganda Females' Campus Kabojja Save Lives Through Blood Donations

  • 18th September, 2024 3:19pm

The Uganda Red Cross Society team from the Ministry of Health Uganda blood transfusion service visited the Islamic University in Uganda Females’ Campus Kabojja on 27th August 2024 to save lives through blood donations.

Blood is needed in our health care facilities in the country to save the lives of patients with severe anaemia as a result of accidents, surgical operations, malaria, and complications during pregnancy, after Childbirth, cancer, and sickle cell. The blood is only for human beings thus the people who volunteer to donate blood are still few compared to the demand, leading to occasional blood shortages and death. The blood that is collected can only last for 35 days, hence there is a need to collect blood every day.

Huge numbers of students convened at Timberland (the universities’ common gathering) to participate in this particular activity of saving the lives of the public under the theme, “Give the Gift of Life – Donate Blood”.

The team advised students to continuously engage themselves in such activities because every life matters.
