A Milestone in Academic Excellence, International Collaboration and the Pursuit of Knowledge.

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) proudly celebrates a significant milestone in its commitment to academic excellence, staff development and international collaboration, following the successful completion of doctoral studies by the first four members of the inaugural cohort of its PhD programme offered in collaboration with Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi, Nigeria.

The four distinguished scholars—Dr. Sikuku, Dr. Kobusingye, Dr. Luwemba and Dr. Nabutsebi—have successfully completed their doctoral programmes, marking an important achievement for the University and demonstrating the value of strategic international academic partnerships in advancing research, knowledge creation and human capital development.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, who joined the team in celebrating this achievement, commended the scholars for their dedication, perseverance and commitment to academic advancement. The successful completion of the programme reflects not only the individual accomplishments of the graduates but also IUIU’s continued investment in strengthening its academic capacity, developing its staff and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.

The celebration also featured Dr. Imrana Ahmad, Coordinator of the PhD programme, who joined the Vice Rector and the four graduates in marking this memorable occasion. The achievement represents an encouraging beginning for the collaborative programme and reinforces the importance of partnerships between higher education institutions in expanding access to advanced training and promoting academic excellence across borders.

During the visit, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs also delivered a public lecture and undertook other official engagements, including meetings aimed at strengthening existing institutional relationships and exploring opportunities for enhanced collaboration. These engagements further underscore IUIU’s commitment to building meaningful international partnerships that contribute to teaching, research, innovation and institutional development.

As the University celebrates this achievement, it extends its heartfelt congratulations to the four scholars and appreciates everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the programme. Their accomplishment serves as an inspiration to fellow academics, researchers and students to remain steadfast in the pursuit of knowledge and professional growth.

Alhamdulillah, Masha Allah! May Allah place barakah in the knowledge acquired by our scholars, make it beneficial to humanity, and continue to guide them on the path of lifelong learning, service and excellence.

Congratulations to Dr. Sikuku, Dr. Kobusingye, Dr. Luwemba and Dr. Nabutsebi, and to the entire team that made this milestone possible. May this achievement mark the beginning of even greater academic accomplishments and stronger partnerships between the Islamic University in Uganda and Sa’adu Zungur University, Nigeria.
