Islamic University in Uganda Hosts Career Guidance Session at Sironko Parents' School

Staff members from Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Carried out a career guidance session for students and teachers of Sironko Parents Secondary School on Tuesday 09th July 2024 in Sironko. The students were Enlighted about academic programs and career opportunities.

Ms Kantono Rehema, the public relations officer at IUIU, gave a brief history of the institution and advised students on the career opportunities available in the different subjects studied at high school and encouraged each student to study with a purpose by identifying their dream professions early and aim for the best.

She also urged students to stay in school, avoid circumstances that may lead to school drop out, and emphasized the university's quality education offered by IUIU, highlighting the institution's reputation for producing ethical and well-prepared graduates.

Ms. Rehema assured attendees that IUIU provides a safe learning environment, and offers financial aid options, including scholarships and bursaries, to academically deserving students. She also stressed that IUIU is open to students of all faiths.

Mr. Mayanja Yusuf, Manager of IUIU FM, shared his personal story to illustrate the importance of hard work and perseverance in achieving academic goals. He advised students to avoid shortcuts and reliance on external help during exams. Mr. Mayanja addressed misconceptions about IUIU, clarifying its international recognition and a strong reputation for academic excellence. He highlighted key points about IUIU, including its status as Uganda's second oldest private university, affordable tuition fees, flexible payment options, a diverse range of academic programs, and various extracurricular activities.

The Director of Studies Sironko parents school Mr Yafesi Kalanga, emphasized the importance of future planning for students, acknowledging the challenges faced by first-generation university students. He highlighted the crucial role parents play in their children's educational journeys and the need for informed decision-making regarding subject combinations.

Headmistress Ms. Rose Kayiji expressed gratitude to IUIU, noting the relevance of the information provided and the positive impact it had on students' attitudes towards higher education. She shared her intention to pursue a Master's in Business Administration at IUIU, inspired by the session. Kayiji concluded that the students are now more motivated to achieve the grades needed to pursue their desired courses.
