Recognizing Excellence

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), takes pride in celebrating the achievements of outstanding students through a variety of prestigious awards. These awards not only recognize academic excellence but also exemplify leadership, discipline, and active participation in university life.

Here’s a glimpse into the accolades given upon our exceptional students across all campuses.

1. The Rector’s Award
   The Rector’s Award celebrates creativity and innovation among students. This accolade is given to the most innovative student or group of students, encouraging them to think outside the box and contribute to societal advancement. The award carries a cash prize of UGX 2,000,000 or more.                      
2. The Prince Badru Kakungulu Award
   The most prestigious recognition at IUIU, the Prince Badru Kakungulu Award, is presented to the best student of the year. This award honors a student who has excelled academically, demonstrated high moral standards, and actively participated in Dawa, memorization of the Quran, and leadership roles. The recipient among other criteria should be involved in sports/ co-curricular activities. The award includes a cash prize of UGX 1,500,000 and a laptop.                                                                                                                         
3. The IUIU Alumni Award
   The IUIU Alumni Award is given to the second-best student and is open to students of any gender or religious background. The award recognizes a holistic individual with strong leadership qualities and high discipline and academic excellence. The winner receives a cash prize of UGX 1,000,000.                     
4. The International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) Award
   This award is dedicated to the best Muslim female student who has excelled academically and demonstrated excellent leadership skills, discipline, and active participation in sports and other co-curricular activities. The IICO Award includes a cash prize of USD 500 and a laptop.                                                        
5. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Award

        The award is given to the best student from the faculty of Management studies.

Behind these esteemed awards is a dedicated committee of faculty members and university officials who oversee the selection process. The Award Selection Committee is composed of  Vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs, Academic Registrar, Deans, Wardens, Chairman Dawah, Guiled president and Vice lady, University Secretary, support administrator,  Director of Campuses, and ERP manager

The committee also works closely with various departments to gather comprehensive assessments of each candidate's academic performance, leadership roles, and participation in extracurricular activities.
