IUIU Faculty of Law Celebrates Academic Achievements of Its Staff

The Faculty of Law at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU organized a special celebration in honor of several lecturers who recently attained higher academic qualifications from prestigious institutions On 13th January, 2025.
The event recognized outstanding academic achievements, including Doctor of Laws (LLD), Master of Laws (LLM), and Postgraduate Diplomas from institutions such as the International Islamic University of Malaysia, Makerere University, and IUIU.
Among the celebrated scholars were Dr. Hanifa Tyakagire and Dr. Nkum James, who earned their LLD degrees from the International Islamic University of Malaysia and Makerere University, respectively. Additionally, Advocate Mpaata Ibrahim, Bifammengo Yusuf, Her Worship Rizik Nambuya, and Advocate Bogere Nakirayi Fatuma were awarded LLM degrees. Meanwhile, Nakasagga Rashidah Raihan, Kamama Kurusum, Ms. Hamidah Nagadya, and Kinobe Ahmed attained Postgraduate Diplomas in various disciplines from IUIU.
The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Abdullateef Wale Adeyemo, expressed his gratitude to the Almighty Allah for the opportunity granted to the lecturers to further their education. He encouraged the graduates to utilize their newly acquired knowledge and qualifications to enhance the faculty’s academic standing through quality teaching, research, and contributions toward institutional development.
Dr. Adeyemo also commended the lecturers for their dedication and commitment to upholding academic standards, particularly in quality teaching, examinations, and the joint marking exercise within the faculty.
Representing the Director of Kampala Campus, Dr. Twaha Kasule, the Deputy Director, Dr. Ediriisa Kasozi, urged the celebrants to continue their pursuit of knowledge. He also lauded Dr. Adeyemo for spearheading initiatives that foster academic and professional growth among faculty members.
Associate Professor Sam Tindifa, the Deputy Dean of the Main Campus, encouraged all lecturers within the faculty to pursue further studies. He emphasized that the National Council for Higher Education now mandates a minimum qualification of a Master’s degree for lecturers in law faculties across universities in Uganda.
